Simplified Page collects supported page content into a separate reading view. It reduces the surrounding layout so a visitor can concentrate on the information.

The tool changes presentation. It does not rewrite difficult sentences into easier language.

Open the reading view

  1. Open the widget.
  2. Expand Helper.
  3. Select Simplified Page.
  4. Read the extracted content in the expanded panel.

Use Close to return to the widget and the original website.

What is included

The view can include headings, paragraphs, list items, and supported links identified during page analysis. Navigation items are excluded from the extracted reading content.

This can make a text-heavy page easier to follow without its full visual layout. The amount and order of content depend on the page structure and what the widget identifies.

Do not expect a complete reproduction of every page component. Forms, complex interactive elements, media, and embedded content may need to be used on the original page.

Follow a link

Supported extracted links are shown with their text or address and an indication that they open separately. Selecting one opens its destination in a new browsing context, which the browser may display as a tab or window.

Return to the original page when you need its menus or interactive controls.

Example

A service page may contain explanatory text between promotional panels and navigation areas. A visitor can open Simplified Page to read the extracted explanation in one place, then close it to use the service's application button or form.

If the explanation itself remains too complex, a different tool is needed.

Compare alternative content tools

  • Simplified Page presents existing content in a reduced layout.
  • Easy Language uses prepared simplified wording within the page.
  • Plain Language displays a prepared alternative text in its own panel.

Simplified Page does not require an editor to prepare a rewritten version, but it does depend on usable page content being available to the widget's analysis.

If content is missing

Wait for the original page to load fully, then reopen the view. If an important passage is absent, use the original page and tell the website team which content was missing.

See Using Easy Language and Reading the Plain Language Version when you need different wording as well as a simpler presentation.
