The Color Deficiency profile provides colour-filter sliders. These controls change the page's colour appearance and let visitors compare different presentations.
A filter name is not a recommendation for every person with that type of colour-vision difference. Choose a result by checking whether it helps with the actual page.
Open the filters
- Open the widget.
- Expand Accessibility Profiles.
- Select Color Deficiency.
- Adjust a filter slider and compare the page before and after the change.
Selecting this profile can replace existing individual adjustments, as other profiles do. Make any further text or display changes after choosing the profile.
Available controls
Bluefilter
This applies a warm-toned filter. Increase it gradually if you prefer a warmer page appearance. It changes the page visually; it does not adjust the physical display or establish a health benefit.
Protanopia
This control applies a red-toned filter. Its name identifies the widget option, but the effect should be evaluated on the colours and content you need to distinguish.
Deuteranopia
This control applies a green-toned filter. Compare labels, links, and coloured information with the original presentation before deciding whether to keep it.
Tritanopia
This control applies a blue-toned filter. As with the other filters, more intensity does not necessarily produce a more useful result.
Adjust the intensity
Each slider runs from zero to full intensity in steps. Zero removes that filter's contribution. Start near zero and increase the effect gradually.
The standard configuration uses one colour filter at a time. Adjusting another filter resets the other sliders, allowing you to compare alternatives instead of building up several colour overlays.
Example: checking a coloured status display
Find a page area containing the status colours you need to distinguish. Adjust one filter and check the status text as well as the colours. If two states become harder to tell apart, reduce the filter or return it to zero.
Filters cannot add missing text labels to a colour-only chart or status indicator.
Return to the original colours
Move the sliders back to zero, choose another profile, or use Reset. Other active settings, such as Saturation, may also change colours.
For monochrome or general colour-intensity changes, see Adjusting Contrast and Colour. For automatic text-colour adjustments, see Using Smart Contrast.
