Images and movement can make it harder to stay with a passage of text. Remove Images and Disable Animations offer two ways to reduce visual distractions while keeping the original page available.

You can use either setting on its own. The Difficulty Concentrating profile combines both with additional reading adjustments.

Remove Images

  1. Open the widget and expand Settings.
  2. Select Remove Images.
  3. Read the page with the reduced visual content.
  4. Select the control again when you need the images back.

The feature can hide images, supported graphics, and background images. Some removed elements are replaced with placeholders that retain space in the layout. Where an image has alternative text, that text may appear in its placeholder.

This can help with a text-heavy article surrounded by decorative pictures. It can also remove useful content, including product photographs, diagrams, or graphical controls. Restore images when that information is needed.

Image removal does not create descriptions for images that lack suitable text.

Disable Animations

Select Disable Animations to suppress supported page animations and transitions. This can reduce movement around text and help provide a steadier presentation.

It does not guarantee that all moving content stops. Video playback, animated image formats, and third-party embedded content can behave differently. Use a video's own pause control when necessary.

The setting can also affect interactive components that rely on animation. If a page component stops responding, turn the setting off and reload the page.

Restore motion

Select Disable Animations again to turn the setting off. Some script-driven animation may require a page reload before it resumes. Keep the setting off when reloading if your intention is to restore that behaviour.

Example: reading a long article

  1. Turn off animations first and try reading a paragraph.
  2. Hide images if nearby pictures still distract you.
  3. Restore images temporarily when the article refers to a diagram.
  4. Try Simplified Page if a separate reading view is more comfortable.

Profiles and individual preferences

The Seizures & Epilepsy profile includes motion reduction, but neither the profile nor the animation control guarantees removal of every flashing or triggering element. Use the individual controls according to the result you observe.
