An accessibility profile applies several related adjustments in one action. It can be a useful starting point when a visitor wants more than one change but does not want to configure every setting separately.

Profiles describe possible preferences. People with the same access need may prefer different settings, and anyone can try a profile that helps them.

Select and adjust a profile

  1. Open the widget and expand Accessibility Profiles.
  2. Select an available profile.
  3. Review the result on the website.
  4. Open Settings to fine-tune the experience.

Selecting a profile resets the current individual settings before applying the profile's combination. Choose the profile first, then make personal adjustments. Selecting another profile can replace those adjustments.

The descriptions below explain the built-in starting combinations. Available capabilities and saved profile adjustments can affect the result on a particular website.

Seizures & Epilepsy

This profile combines disabled animations, monochrome presentation, modest text enlargement, and a larger cursor. Its purpose is to reduce some motion and visual intensity.

It cannot guarantee that all flashing or moving content is removed. See Reducing Distractions and Motion for the scope of the motion controls.

Poor Eyesight

This profile combines Smart Contrast, enlarged text, wider letter spacing, increased saturation, a larger cursor, magnification, and acoustic feedback where those functions are available.

For example, a visitor may start with this combination and then turn off acoustic feedback if visual assistance is sufficient.

Difficulty Concentrating

This profile combines image removal, disabled animations, enlarged text, wider letter spacing, and a larger cursor. It can provide a quieter presentation for following a long passage.

Restore images when illustrations, charts, or product photographs are needed to understand the page.

Easy Language

This profile combines the Easy Language setting with modest text enlargement. The language feature requires prepared simplified content for the page. Selecting the profile does not create that content.

See Using Easy Language for the difference between the profile and the text-simplification function.

Smart Screen

This profile combines Smart Contrast with a small increase in text size and saturation. It offers a visual starting point without the broader set of assistance used by Poor Eyesight.

Color Deficiency

This profile opens colour-filter controls. Visitors can adjust the intensity of Bluefilter, Protanopia, Deuteranopia, and Tritanopia filters and compare the results.

Read Using Colour Filters before choosing a filter solely from its name.

Return to individual choices

Use Reset for a fresh start, then enable only the settings you want. There is no requirement to use a profile, and a more extensive combination is not necessarily more comfortable.
